We are thrilled to announce that our team of luthiers has been awarded Quartet Tone awards in the 50th Violin Society of America (VSA) Competition, held in Indianapolis from November 17-22, 2024.
The VSA Competition is a prestigious event held every two years, aimed at recognizing and promoting excellence in the craft of making violins, violas, cellos, and bows. Established in 1975, the competition attracts skilled luthiers from around the world who showcase their craftsmanship and artistry.
Scott Shu-Kun Cao, who leads the team of luthiers at Wilh. Steinberg, has been a participant in the VSA Competition since 1986 and has received numerous awards for tone and workmanship throughout his career. He is widely regarded as one of the most esteemed violin makers in the world, known for his instruments' superb tonal quality, remarkable resonance, and exquisite craftsmanship.
This year, we are proud to highlight the achievements of Cao's apprentices, Yu-Fan Chen and Huo-Rong Jiang, who have both won Quartet Tone Awards. Their success marks an impressive milestone, bringing Wilh. Steinberg Strings to a remarkable total of eight consecutive tone awards.
